Ganesh Kumar Bangah is the Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of MOL Global Pte. Ltd. In this capacity he leads the two wholly owned subsidiaries of MOL Global, namely MOL AccessPortal Berhad (“MOL”), a global online payment service provider and Friendster Inc. (“Friendster”), the world’s pioneer social network. He co-founded and built MOL from scratch to become one of the biggest online payment service providers in Asia with annual revenues of over USD200Million. MOL today has over 680,000 physical payment channels across 80 countries worldwide and handles over 5,000,000 transactions a month.

In December 2009, Ganesh led MOL Global in the acquisition of 100 per cent of Friendster Inc., a leading global online social network with more than 115 million registered members worldwide. MOL Global today is one of Southeast Asia’s biggest internet companies both in terms of revenue and member base combining the huge member base of Friendster with the content and monetization capability of MOL.

Ganesh was certified by the Malaysia Book of Records as the Youngest Chief Executive Officer of a Public Listed Company in Malaysia when he listed MOL AccessPortal Berhad on the MESDAQ Market of Bursa Malaysia at the age of 23. He was also awarded the Ernst & Young Technology Entrepreneur of the Year, 2012 by Ernst & Young of Malaysia and the Overall Top Award Winner for the Prestige Top 40 Under 40 2012 Awards. His other awards include the Winner of the JCI 2009 Creative Young Entrepreneur Award, Winner of the Technopreneur Excellence Award at the PIKOM ICT Leadership Awards 2009 and Winner of the Young Indian Entrepreneur Award 2009. In 2013, Top 10 of Malaysia listed Ganesh among 10 most inspiring Malaysian technopreneurs who have been resilient enough to withstand the test of time and have reached new heights. Recognized as a regional business and technology thought leader, Ganesh was also acknowledged by Society Magazine 2004 as one of the 100 people you must know in Asia.

Ganesh is active in IT industry development and is currently the Treasurer of the National IT Association of Malaysia (“PIKOM”). He has been given the recognition by PIKOM of being a Key Industry Leader. Ganesh is also appointed as a board member of IT Industry Advisory Board (IAB) at Help University to ensure greater relevance in curriculums and developing IT talent.

He was appointed to the Board on 14 February 2001. He is the Executive Director of the Company. Subsequent to graduating with a Diploma in Animal Science from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), he started his career as credit officer in Bank Pertanian Malaysia. He subsequently ventured into the information technology industry in 1986 and held positions in several information technology companies which include Olivetti (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Era 2000 Sdn Bhd. In 1995, he formed one of the first Internet companies in Malaysia, Cyberfield Sdn Bhd. He led Cyberfield Sdn Bhd in several major system integration, e-solutions and web-based development project including the development of state government websites, automotive manufacturing automation systems, wide area network implementations and e-government systems. He brings to the Company his experience and knowledge of system design and project management. He is also the Executive Director of MSC Cybeport Sdn Bhd.

He was appointed to the Board on 1 November 2001. He graduated with a Bachelor of Economics (Accounting Major) from Monash University, Melbourne, in 1983 and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. He has over 10 years of working experience in the fields of accounting, auditing and corporate services with major international accounting firms including Messrs Ernst & Whinney (Kuala Lumpur) (now known as Ernst & Young), Arthur Young (Melbourne) and subsequently Ernst & Young (Melbourne). He joined Berjaya Land Berhad as Senior Manager, Internal Audit in 1994 and was responsible for its internal audit functions. He was an Executive Director of Berjaya Group Berhad from January 2000 to September 2001. He is currently an Executive Director of Berjaya Capital Berhad. He also holds directorships in several other private limited companies in the Berjaya Corporation group of companies.

He was appointed to the Board on 1 November 2001. He graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Electronics Engineering from University of Southampton, United Kingdom and he also holds a Diploma in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the Peoples College of Nottingham, United Kingdom. He has worked in two local information communications technology-based companies before joining Berjaya Land Berhad at the end of 1999 where he was subsequently appointed as an Executive Director of MOL.com Berhad (“MOL”), Director in Qinetics Solutions Berhad and several other subsidiaries and associated companies of MOL, including Web Commerce Communications Limited and Asia Web Direct (HK) Limited. Currently, he is also an Executive Director of U Mobile Sdn Bhd.

He was appointed to the Board on 20 October 2003. He graduated with an Accountancy Degree from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). He is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He started his career as an Auditor with KPMG Malaysia in 1992. Subsequently in 1996, he joined an international oil & gas company, Schlumberger Technical Services Inc. as the Tax Accountant based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He returned to Malaysia in 1997 to start his own business endeavour and started Hijrah Solutions Sdn Bhd, which held the position as Managing Director until year 2000. In year 2000, he founded Secure Computing and Networking Associates Sdn Bhd (currently known as SCAN Associates Berhad), which provides information and communication security solutions, consultancy and services. Currently, he is a Non-Executive Director of SCAN Associates Berhad. He is also the Executive Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer of Setegap Ventures group of companies, which involved in construction, engineering and oil & gas industry.
